Dr. Hong Liang Qiao
Chief Executive Officer
Hong has more than two decades of experience in Natural Language Processing, spanning across core research areas such as Part-of-Speech Tagging, Parsing and Word Sense Disambiguation, etc. On such foundations, he built advanced Question Answering Systems, Knowledge Management Systems, Document Categorization Systems, Natural Language Interface to Databases and Search Engines.
Hong's combined international academic and industrial career includes Uppsala University, the Norwegian Computing Centre for the Humanities (the University of Bergen), the University of Sydney, Sayso! (formerly Syrinx Speech Systems), Monkey Pty Ltd, General Language Machines and Kangasoft Pty Ltd.
In 2001, Hong started his interest in search engine technology and felt that his expertise in Natural Langauge Processing would help improve search relevance. He holds the view that NLP should be the core issue of the 3rd generation search technology. He designed and coded Lexxe search engine (Alpha version), which implemented many of his Natural Language ideas. Hong founded Lexxe Pty Ltd in Sydney, Australia in 2005.
Hong earned his B.A. degree in English from Shanghai International Studies University. He holds an M.A in Linguistics and English Language Teaching from the University of Leeds. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computational Linguistics from the University of Queensland.

Brian Byrnes
Vice President of Engineering
Brian has years of experience involved with the design, construction and on-going development of high-performance software systems. Brian has had a career spanning several countries and companies, working with file system, database and telecommunications systems. Previous companies that Brian has worked for include Agami Systems (US), Object Design (UK, GER, US) and Telstra (AUS), with roles including project management, software development, pre-sales support and post-sales consulting.
In 2008, Brian joined Lexxe as a senior software engineer and project manager. He was promoted to VP of Engineering in Jan. 2009.
Brian has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
