If one looks for something on the Internet, one would choose Google, Yahoo and Co's services habitually. However, less well-known search engines can often beat the giants - as far as specialized knowledge is concerned.

Internet search engines can offer most of general searches a shortcut to the unclear information forest of the WWWs. For a finer, more specialised search, it proves googles & Co. are often too inaccurate. Some niche search engines, which specialise in certain areas, can score higher.

Semantic Search

More search engines offer search with meanings than ever. For the question "When was Einstein born?", there is a concrete answer. This is an example, where http://www.powerset.com/, a search engine from the USA, searches according to such principle. The website http://www.lexxe.com/ also works according to this semantic principle.

Original in German: Spezialsuchmaschinen oft besser als Google & Co.
