Lexxe Participates in 2nd Next Generation Search Technology Workshop

Date: July 23rd, 2007

Lexxe participated in the Next Generation Search Technology Workshop organized by the Human Communication Science Network, at the Macquarie University in Sydney, July 19-20, 2007. Lexxe's key R&D team members Dr. Hong Liang Qiao, Yidong Yuan and Dr. Tony Pham gave a joint presentation entitled "Towards Lexxe Beta Version" (ppt - 2.2Mb).

Lexxe Beta version will use Lexxe's own 1 billion web page index for the first time and the entire system will be re-built in C/C++ under Unix. Lexxe's presentation also showcased its new features (still under lab experiment) including Chinese search and Vertical search for English. Hopefully, the Beta version will be launched towards the end of 2007 or early 2008.

This was the second time such workshop took place in Australia and Dr. Qiao gave a talk in last year's Next Generation Search Technology Workshop held in Melbourne (see Lexxe News No. 30).

Apart from Australian universities and research organizations, Yahoo Australia and Google Australia also sent representatives to attend the workshop. Brett Poole of Yahoo Australia was the keynote speaker of this workshop.
