Dr. Qiao Talks About Natural Language Search Technology in Shanghai

Date: July 11th, 2007

Dr. Hong Liang Qiao, CEO and founder of Lexxe, presented Lexxe in a talk at the Natural Language Search Technology Seminar in Shanghai on July 3rd, 2007. The seminar was hosted by Shanghai Computer Society in Shanghai Science Hall. About 20 experts in Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval from universities in Shanghai participated the seminar. Prof. Miao Duoqian of Tong Ji Uinversity also gave a presentation about Natural Language and search technology. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Jiang Chang Jun also of Tong Ji University.

Dr. Qiao introduced the current trend of Internet search technology development in the world and used Lexxe as an example to discuss next generation search. Participants exchanged views with Dr. Qiao on a number of issues during the open discussion session.

Lexxe has recently opened its office in Shanghai in an effort to develop Chinese language search technology and market (see Lexxe News No. 41). China is estimated to become the largest Internet user country by 2010. There will be a huge market for search engines in the near future. This, hopefully, will provide Lexxe with a good opportunity to explore Chinese market, when it launches its Chinese search engine after the Chinese New Year in 2008, as planned.

Mr. Huang Yi, Deputy Director of Shanghai Development Center of Computer Software Technology (of the Municipal Government of Shanghai), also attended the seminar.

China's IT168.com also reported the seminar (see news in Chinese).
