Dr. Hong Liang Qiao Speaks at Next Generation Search Workshop

Dr. Hong Liang Qiao, CEO of Lexxe Pty Ltd, spoke at the Next Generation Search Technology Workshop organized by the Human Communication Science Network, at the University of Melbourne, September 21-22, 2006. Dr. Qiao introduced Lexxe Search Engine and exchanged views on next generation search techonlogy with participants from about ten Australian universities, CSIRO and industry.
This was the first time such workshop took place in Australia and it attracted scholars across the country to address various issues to improve search quality. On top of traditional approaches such as Information Retrieval and Machine Learning, etc, new dimensions like Natural Language Processing, Personalized Search, and Social and Contextual Information were identified as crucial issues to the Next Generation Search Technology. As the result of the workshop, a proposal for a special research initiative will be made to the Australian Research Council.
During the workshop, on behalf of Lexxe Pty Ltd, Dr. Qiao expressed his interest in collaborating with university research teams and other orgnizations to enhance Lexxe search engine's Natural Language Processing power. He has since received positive reactions from participants.
