School Teachers Like Lexxe
Date: August 28th, 2006
Lexxe has recently been listed as a search tool for its teachers at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Franklin, Massachussets, USA. Called "An ask-a-question site that gives you answers to your natural language questions", Lexxe was among the few top search engines in the world and some specialty search tools.
Sharon Betts, Educational Technology Coordinator at Maine School Administrative District #52, Maine, USA, wrote an article called "Need a Factoid?", in which she explains why she likes Lexxe. "Just enter your question and wait for the clustered results. Although in alpha, this is a great new tool for students and laymen alike. ... I am a crossword puzzle buff and Lexxe is my last resort to solve those testy New York Times Sunday editions. ...Linguistic searches, collaboratives searches — pretty soon, the web will be asking me the questions before I know I want the answers.", Sharon Betts said.
A popular education technology site C U Online also placed a link of Lexxe, under its "Search Engines Interesting/New" column.
Lexxe is also getting popular with libraries:
North West University Library, South Africa
Vejle Institute of Technology, Denmark
Swedish Agricultural University Library, Sweden
Upplands-Bro District Library, Sweden
Barum Public Library, Norway
Hampton Roads Academy Library, USA
Rodney A. Briggs Library, University of Minnesota at Morris, USA
